Each year, I offer two scholarships to new students based in Gloucestershire who are able to demonstrate an exceptional aptitude for the piano. Scholarships are not means tested. They are decided by merit rather than income, and their value varies between a 25% and 90% reduction in tuition fees. Each scholarship is awarded for an annual course of forty-eight lessons, and then reviewed.
ABRSM Grade 7 equivalent or above is the normal minimum level of attainment expected of applicants, although as much importance is attached to overall musicianship and potential as to technical ability. Applicants are asked to perform two contrasting pieces of their choice. They are also examined in sight-reading and aural skills, and a short interview is used to explore their musical background and aims.
Application forms can be viewed and completed here, and should be submitted between January 1st and February 28th each year. Auditions and interviews will take place in the first week of April.
